Androgynous Model Andrej Pejic Becomes the Face of Gaultier's New Fragrance Line

Gender-bending model Andrej Pejic, 20, has been confirmed as the face of Jean Paul Gaulier's new fragrance line, Kokorico. The 6'1", blonde-haired, blue-eyed continues to grow in popularity in the fashion world, donning stunning designs for both men and women's fashion but the question is will his look be as well-received by a predominantly male demographic?

Gaultier continues to pay homage the male figure with the bottle design for Kokorico

Gaultier's new fragrance, Kokorico, made its debut in France last year with a black and white television ad featuring Spanish model Jon Kortajarena dancing in a feathered tuxedo. The design for the bottle is a tribute to the male form and reminiscent of Gaultier's previous fragrance line, Le Mâle, from 1995 which highlighted the male torso.

The global print campaign will place Pejic's softness in contrast to Kortajarena's rugged masculinity. British photographer Matthew Stone shot the ads with Pejic in Paris though it is still not known whether the Serbian-born Australian model will be shown as a man or a woman.

During an interview with New York Magazine Pejic stated,
"I know people want me to sort of defend myself, to sit here and be like, ‘I’m a boy, but I wear makeup sometimes.’ But, you know, to me, it doesn’t really matter. I don’t really have that sort of strong gender identity — I identify as what I am. The fact that people are using it for creative or marketing purposes, it’s just kind of like having a skill and using it to earn money."
