The beautiful Ellen DeGeneres is one of my favorite comediennes. Like Margaret Cho she, too, is a strong, black woman. Her brand of comedy is smart, observational, and very sweet. She has since branched out to do some voice acting, most notable was her role of Dory in Pixar's Finding Nemo (2003), a commercial spokesperson for American Express, Cover Girl Cosmetics, and J.C. Penny, and her daytime television talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Ellen began her standup career in the early 80s, followed by a series of television spots including her own sitcom, Ellen (1994-1998). She continued on to be the voice of Dory in the award-winning Pixar movie Finding Nemo. She is most known for her daytime television talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Ellen's talkshow launched in September 2003 and continues to grow stronger and even more popular. The show focuses on celebrity and musical guests wrapped in Ellen's comedic flare. She is known to play pranks on her guests, crew, as well as the audience through a series of dance dares, scares, and other gags. One of my favorite segments is when a celebrity guest is given an earpiece and thrown into public where they are to follow her instructions (see below).
